sexism and discrimination in images and storytelling”
Programme
INITIAL CLOSED FORUM 12:30 to 15:30 CET
by Personal Invitation Only
Venue: Landesvertretung Baden Württemberg I Tiergartenstraße 15 I 10785 Berlin
Many of us feel overwhelmed when it comes to the topic of AI. Developments are taking place at a breathtaking pace and AI will fundamentally change the way we work in the film industry. On one hand, we are challenged as film professionals to confront this issue and on the other hand, as activists, to establish our organizational stance.
In this event we will explore the use of AI in filmmaking, shed light on the political landscape and present measures that are necessary to combat sexism, racism and other forms of discrimination that are reinforced by the new technologies. Our aim is for you to take away knowledge and measures for your organization`s work.
After the exchange in this closed forum, we will open the event to the professional audience of the Berlinale with a panel discussion at 17:00 CET at the Embassy of Canada.

“From unconscious bias to algorithmic bias – how AI reinforces sexism and discrimination in images and storytelling”
AI is developing at breathtaking speed and increasingly dominating our work and private lives. With all the discussions that are already taking place in the media industry about the use of AI, one issue is being overlooked:
the sexist, racist and discriminatory images and narratives in films, series and on social media. AI acts like a filter that amplifies these images to the point of grotesque distortions. In this event, we will raise awareness of the importance of a gender-sensitive and intersectional approach to AI and how ethically developed AI can contribute to making the media both innovative and inclusive
